First Interview
If this position is a right fit in terms of your skills, experience, and interests, as well as organizational needs, we will contact you to schedule a first interview. During that first meeting, QWOCMAP will use competency-based questions to understand your ability to handle specific situations based on past experience. We want to understand how you have demonstrated your specific skills or characteristics essential for the role. We’ll also ask a few “traditional” interview questions that are more general and open ended so that we can also understand your background and motivations.

Co-Assessment
If you are invited for a second interview, we will review the job description in depth together with you. This is a chance for you to ask more questions and better understand QWOCMAP. This is also an opportunity to express your needs and goals.

Paid Work Trial
After a successful second interview, you will be invited to for a paid work test for 1-3 days. You will complete a work sample or other small project to assess how you work, collaborate with others, and communicate. This work is paid at QWOCMAP’s hourly rate for entry level positions.

We will either confirm your volunteer shift, or reach out to ask if you're open to being reassigned to a different shift or opportunity based on where we have the greatest need.

Volunteer Orientation
All festival volunteers complete one of two short online training sessions before the Film Festival.

Interview
If you are invited for an interview, we assess your strengths, interests, and skills. We will discuss how to meet the requirements of your college or university college class, major/program, or graduation requirements. Finally, we will explore a list of possible projects for your Internship.

Project
We will work together to co-create a project or work responsibilities based on your and QWOCMAP's needs. This is a chance for you to be creative and think broadly about what you are passionate about and explore ways to grow. Successful Interns have created projects that advance QWOCMAP's mission and service to community:
- Multiple Borders - Queer & Trans Migration, a 5-volume film series and discussion guide that has been used by immigration attorneys for in service training.
- Life Healing Project, a discussion guide for films by LBTQIA+ women of color survivors of violence, abuse, and trauma
- Cataloging films about im/migration in a process that led to open captions for all the films screened at our International Queer Women of Color Film Festival
- Developing a Safety for Community project that outlines accessible emergency procedures, security protocols, and disaster strategies, which are core to QWOCMAP's development as a Crip Survival Hub in the national Crip Survival Network.
- Develop and assign intersectional thematic and genre cataloging system for the 515+ QWOCMAP Films in the archive; apply advanced editing techniques to create open captions for older films to increase accessibility.
