What We Do

Workshops, trainings, and consulting on film practice, equity, accessibility, and resource mobilization, grounded in QWOCMAP's Film AS Movement framework.

Our Approach

Rooted in the lineages and lived experience of queer and trans people of color, our work with your organization builds cultural humility alongside practical skills. Let's go beyond compliance checklists.

How We Work

We move at the pace your community needs, from a single workshop to a year-long consulting engagement. You bring the context; we bring the facilitation, materials, and follow-through.

Consulting

A longer, multi-session engagement. We partner with you to develop plans, build your thought leadership, and meet your goals, with a range of options to fit your organization's scale and timeline.

Intensive Filmmaking Workshop

Film & Freedom Academy — For Your Organization

Bring our intensive filmmaking workshop to your organization or institution. Participants complete a 5-minute film as individuals or co-directing pairs. They leave with concrete technical skills, practical artistic knowledge, and leadership tools that stay rooted in your community.

As part of building narrative power, this workshop equips participants with the skills to create new films and tell their own stories. We tailor the workshop to your community and context, and we've brought FFA to organizations serving populations beyond our core LBTQIA+ BIPOC communities.

Frequently Asked Questions

About bringing QWOCMAP in for trainings, workshops, or consulting

Fill out the Consultations & Trainings Request Form above with a few details about your organization, what you're looking for, and your timeline. We'll reach out to schedule an intake conversation.

Yes. We've led workshops and consulting engagements across the U.S. and internationally. Travel is scoped into the project when relevant.

Pricing is handled case by case. It depends on the topic, format, duration, group size, travel, and whether it's a single session or a longer engagement. Everything is scoped through conversation. Reach out and we'll follow up to discuss.

Film Feedback is 1:1 feedback on your film from award-winning filmmaker Madeleine Lim and the QWOCMAP Productions team. We can support development, editing, and other stages of your project. Reach out and we'll share details and a quote.

FFA for Organizations is our intensive filmmaking workshop brought directly to your organization or institution. Participants complete a 5-minute film as individuals or co-directing pairs and leave with concrete technical skills, practical artistic knowledge, and leadership tools rooted in your community. We tailor the workshop to your community and context, and we've brought it to organizations serving populations beyond our core LBTQIA+ BIPOC communities.

For workshops and trainings, we recommend reaching out at least 8–12 weeks in advance. For consulting engagements or Film & Freedom Academy for Organizations, plan for 3–6 months of lead time. We'll do our best to accommodate shorter timelines when we can.

Group size depends on the topic and format. For most trainings, we can work with groups of 10 to 30. For deeper engagements like Film & Freedom Academy for your organization, cohorts are smaller, around 10 participants. We'll discuss what fits your goals during intake.

Both. We've led workshops and consulting engagements virtually and in person, and we can combine the two where it serves your goals. Online sessions change how we teach, so we'll talk through the format that fits your group during intake.

Yes. Every engagement is tailored. We work with film and media studies programs, nonprofits, foundations, arts organizations, and community groups, and we've brought our trainings to audiences beyond our core LBTQIA+ BIPOC communities. We start with a conversation about what your organization is working on and what you're trying to change.

A workshop or training is a one-time session or short series; your team leaves with concrete information, frameworks, and practical examples they can use to make choices and develop plans. Consulting is a longer, multi-session engagement where we partner with you over time to develop plans, build your thought leadership, and meet specific goals. If you're not sure which fits, we'll help you figure that out in an intake conversation.
