About booking a QWOCMAP screening or presentation
Visit Watch Films → Distribution to learn about the catalog and see featured works. The full Eventive-powered catalog launches after the website's initial rollout; in the meantime, you can reach out about specific films or themes through the form on this page.
We handle accessibility on the film side. Catalog films from 2014 forward include open captions, and films from 2022 forward also include audio description. Older films are being captioned on an ongoing basis. Venue and event accessibility — ASL interpretation, CART captioning, physical access, scent-free policies, and other accommodations — is the client's responsibility, and we're available to consult on accessibility planning for a fee.
Screening events typically run 45–90 minutes, depending on the program length and whether you're adding a Filmmaker Talkback or discussion component. Longer programs are possible but get harder to balance when a screening combines short films with a longer feature. We'll scope the length with you based on your audience and goals.
We've worked with audiences from small classroom groups to large community events. There's no minimum or maximum size requirement. Audience size factors into the pricing scope but not into whether we can work with you.
Yes. Our Custom Curatorial Screenings can be delivered in-person or online. Hybrid screenings that combine both formats are possible, with the client responsible for the on-site A/V setup that hybrid delivery requires.
Yes. Filmmaker Talkbacks are available as an add-on to Custom Curatorial Screenings. Filmmakers in attendance speak to their creative process and the themes in their films, inviting your community into deeper understanding through discussion.
You tell us three things: where you want the screening (in-person or online), how long you want it to run, and what theme or themes you want to center. We program the screening from our catalog and handle all curatorial work. Theme areas include abolition & anti-violence, disability justice & body autonomy, ecosystems & stewardship, emotional justice & healing, race & ethnicity, gender & sexuality, resource sharing & alternatives to capitalism, decolonization & re-indigenization, arts & culture, social justice, and community & relationships. We can also work with themes you bring to us.
A Custom Curatorial Screening is programmed for you; you pick a location, length, and theme, and we curate films from our catalog of 515+ works by LBTQIA+ people of color. Reels of Resistance is our signature presentation, weaving films with history to show how LBTQIA+ artists of color have led movements for collective liberation. Focused Lens is designed specifically for film and media studies programs, pairing films with discussion of the social justice implications of creative decisions.
Fill out the request form above with a few details about your event — location, timeline, audience, and what kind of program you're interested in. We'll reach out to schedule a conversation.
Yes. QWOCMAP has brought screenings and presentations to organizations across the U.S. and internationally. Travel costs are added into the project scope when relevant.
We recommend reaching out at least 12 weeks in advance, and we can usually work with 6–8 weeks for screenings that don't require us to travel. Events that require QWOCMAP staff or filmmakers to travel need more lead time, so reach out as early as you can.
