“Film screenings orient audiences amidst crashing waves of regressive rhetoric surrounding racial, sexual and gender diversity,” QWOCMAP organizers said. “Like an ancient compass, these films point us to more complex understandings of Indigenous knowledge, shared ecology and queer theories. They help us to withstand the deep tidal shifts that inform the backlash against calls for justice and rising inequality and expose the Hollywood’s fragile faithfulness to diverse storytelling.”
