Economic Justice
QWOCMAP was founded with a stubborn commitment to economic justice and anti-capitalist policies. We remove financial barriers through free programs that also provide resources and support.
Why It Matters
The Cost of Free
However, free and accessible to all does not mean free of cost. Capitalist society puts more value on things that have, or cost, a lot of money to participate in or attend. QWOCMAP has never had the kind of budget needed to meet community demand, the result of deliberate and persistent underfunding.
Valuing This Work
Valuing this work can look like sharing — time, talents, and treasure, and financial, material, experiential, intellectual, social, living, natural, cultural, and spiritual resources.
For those that can, we request that community members donate as monthly sustainers, Producers Circle members, volunteer resource mobilizers, and more. QWOCMAP is well worth it.
Mobilizing Resources
And as QWOCMAP mobilizes resources, we also focus on how they can be shared in ways that support the sustainability of our communities and global economic transformation.
In our work, we sow the seeds for a just transition, away from extractive economies that concentrate wealth and power, force consumerism, expand militarism, and dig, burn, and then dump natural and other resources. We plant the roots of visionary, living economies that focus on regeneration, caring and sacredness, ecological and social well-being, and deep participatory democracy. We nourish solidarity economy ecosystems where all of the things that our communities need — housing, food, education, and arts & culture — are stewarded by and for our communities.
